Slingshot Labs (http://www.slingshotlabs.com)
is an incubator dedicated to building and developing new Web ventures
for News Corporation. Slingshot Labs is headquartered in Santa
Monica, California with former MySpace founders Josh Berman and
Colin Digiaro serving as co-presidents.
Slingshot Labs will employ a portfolio approach to the development
and launch of businesses, and plans to nurture four to five ventures
per year. Businesses ranging from stand-alone Web destinations,
to social media applications will be developed within Slingshot
and have dedicated product and development teams tasked with building
each new venture. The company will offer employees the opportunity
to participate in the value created in each of the new ventures
it develops, a compelling offer to help attract top entrepreneurial
talent.
This position will work with development, creative and management
and will create web applications that reach millions of people,
and build high volume servers.
TECHNICAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.S. Computer Science or related field
- Extensive experience building large-scale server applications
- Expertise with C#, .NET and / or Java
- Knowledge of Perl or PHP or Python
- Expert knowledge developing and debugging in C#
- Knowledge of relational databases and SQL, preferably SQL
Server
- Working in a team-based development environment
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design core, backend software components
- Code high-volume CMS / UGC / Social Networking software
using primarily C#, .NET and Java
- Create web applications using primarily .NET
- Implement web interfaces using XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript,
AJAX
- Build report interfaces and data feeds
- Conduct design and code reviews
- Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability
of various system resources
- Document & test software
- Manage small development team and development schedule
